Carefree Vacations' 1st Annual Travel Photo Contest begins June 12, 2011 and ends July 17, 2011 at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 18 years old or older.

Who may enter: Photographers must be 18 years old or older, and must show a valid driver's license, picture ID, or other suitable means of verification. Employees of Carefree Vacations, photo contest sponsors, and employees of the Union-Tribune and SignOnSanDiego.com or its agents, representatives, and affiliates, as well as their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household are not eligible. Open to U.S. residents only. Carefree Vacations will determine winners' eligibility.

What to enter: The 4 contest categories are drawn from those subjects of special interest to Carefree Vacations and their clients.

Family - Share your photo memories highlighting family and multi-generational travel. These photos will have people as the main focus, experiencing their family vacation, across the world.

Historical Landmarks - Capture the man made majesties of architecture in your photo tribute to the history of our planet. Everything from the Eiffel Tower to the White House to the Great Pyramids fit in this category.

Eco/Culture - Scenic vistas to local street scenes, your photo will capture the essence of a destination. Animals, plants and landscapes are perfect for this category.

Beach & Sun - Stunning sunsets, surfers, marine life; your photo takes us to tropical or beach destinations around the world. From palm trees to sand castles, anything and everything on or along the beach is eligible. This category is based on online votes.

Cropped photos are eligible in all categories. We do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable for all categories. If our judges determine that a photographer has altered his or her photo, they reserve the right to disqualify it. Carefree Vacations reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operations of the game or website or to be acting in violation of the official rules.

It is the contestant's responsibility to obtain permission of any person(s) in the photo or their legal guardians to publicly post the image prior to submittal. By uploading the photo, the user is contractually agreeing that they have permission from the subject to have taken the photo and publicly post.

Photographs that have won any other contests or have been published in magazines and newspapers (except online) are not eligible. We define winning as having won a grand prize or 1st, 2nd or 3rd place overall. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including but not limited to copyright, are not eligible.

How to enter: Please submit photographs online through SignOnSanDiego.com at http://www.carefreevacations.com/UT/photocontest . In order to complete your registration, some users may be asked to fill out additional information before entering. No purchase necessary. The contest begins at 12:01 a.m. on 6/12/11 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on 7/17/11. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail. Submit no more than one (1) photograph per category. We do not accept more than one contestant per e-mail address.

High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Use the online entry form on SignOnSanDiego.com. Complete a separate form for each request.

Entry deadline: All entries must be received through SignOnSanDiego.com by 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST).on July 17, 2011.

Prizes

Grand Prize: Trip for 2 including: 7 nights at the All-Inclusive luxury resort, Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Cancun, including charter air, provided by Apple Vacations. (approximately $6,400 value).

Category Prizes: Trip for 2 to Hawaii including 4 nights at the Westin Maui provided by Pleasant Holidays and roundtrip airfare San Diego to Maui provided by Alaska Airlines (approximately $2,600 value).

Trip for 2 to Italy: 8 night tour to Rome, Venice and Florence provided by Trafalgar. Includes hotel accommodations, some meals, sightseeing and tour guide and transportation within Italy. Land only. (approximately $3,750 value).

Trip for 2 to Cabo San Lucas: 3 nights at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach in a Junior Suite, provided by Pueblo Bonito Resorts. Land only. Prize to be determined by the most votes. (approximately $1,300 value).

2 runners up per category will receive a photo book gift certificate valued at $20.00 redeemable online at www.snapfish.com

Winners are responsible for paying all applicable local, state and federal taxes. For tax reporting purposes, winners will be required to provide legal name, address and social security number or forfeit prize. Carefree Vacations is not responsible for lost or stolen prizes. All prizes are non-refundable or exchangeable and cash substitutions are not permitted. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited. Carefree Vacations makes no warranty with respect to any prize and reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal of greater value. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries.

Judging: Judging for the following three categories: Family, Historical Landmarks and Eco/Culture will be conducted by three professional photographers as stated on the entry page: Kerrick James, Sherry Martin and Mark Holmes. The best of the 3 categories will receive the Grand Prize. The other category winners will receive the category prize.

The Beach/Sun category will be judged solely on the number of votes it receives on SignOnSanDiego.com. In order to receive a vote, one must register and vote. One vote per email address. A url to share via email or social networks will be provided upon completing a successful entry in this category. Online votes are limited to 1 vote per day, per email address. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be determined by random drawing, witnessed by official(s) of Carefree Vacations.

The winners will be notified by August 17, 2011 and will have their photograph posted on Carefree Vacations website and in an email notifying all contest entrants.

Winners agree to allow use of name and photos by Carefree Vacations without further compensation. The contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and is void where prohibited. In fairness to all, Carefree Vacations cannot discuss the contest by phone, mail or in any other way with the contestants. Decisions of Carefree Vacations and contracted judges will be final.

Other Conditions: Carefree Vacations reserves the right to change, modify, or extend contest dates if it should be deemed necessary. Carefree Vacations reserves the right to suspend or cancel the contest at any time. Carefree Vacations assumes no responsibility for injury or loss that may arise from participation in the contest. Carefree Vacations assumes no responsibility for computer system, phone line, hardware, software or program malfunctions, delayed computer transmissions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Carefree Vacations reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel or suspend this contest, in its entirety or in part should virus, bug, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or other causes beyond Carefree Vacations' control corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper play of the contest. Carefree Vacations is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest by any technical or human errors, which may occur in the processing of the entries in the contest. Prize Terms and Conditions

Pueblo Bonito Prize: The photo that receives the most online votes in the Beach/Sun category is entitled to a Three (3) nights at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach in Los Cabos, room only. Accommodations are in a Junior Suite and includes taxes. Hotel Nights are non-transferable, non-refundable, not redeemable for cash and may not be sold. Travel over holidays and other peak travel periods is restricted. Must redeem by 8/17/2012 and cannot be extended.

Trafalgar Prize: The winner, determined by Carefree Vacations judges, is entitled to a Trafalgar Italian Holiday Itinerary November 14-21, 2011. Itinerary and inclusions are subject to change. The tour is based on double occupancy and additional conditions may apply. Airfare not included. Tours are non-transferable, non-refundable, not redeemable for cash and may not be sold. Travel over holidays and other peak travel periods is restricted. Must redeem by 8/17/2012 and cannot be extended.

Pleasant Holidays and Alaska Airlines Prize: The winner, determined by Carefree Vacations judges, is entitled to Four (4) nights at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa Vacation is valid for travel through 8/17/12. Hotel Nights are non-transferable, non-refundable, not redeemable for cash and may not be sold. Travel over holidays and other peak travel periods is restricted. The recipient is responsible for paying any resort fees, parking fees, room service charges and any other incidentals assessed directly by the hotel, and/or not directly specified above. Travel is subject to availability and some restrictions may apply. Extensions cannot be given. A $250 change fee applies to all changes once the itinerary is confirmed; a $200 fee will be charged for all cancellations. Airfare provided by Alaska Airlines. Tickets are unrestricted, Y class. Must redeem by 8/17/2012 and allow two (2) weeks for ticketing. Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Apple Vacations Prize (Grand Prize): The winner, determined by Carefree Vacations judges, is entitled to a trip for 2 adults and includes 7-night accommodations, round-trip charter air from Los Angeles (LAX) to Cancun (CUN), transfers to/from resort, all meals and drinks, non-motorized watersports and the services of an Apple Representative at Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Cancun. Traveler must completely fill out and sign the Reservations Request Form and follow the guidelines associated. Traveler must mail or fax Reservation Request Form to the address/fax number provided by Carefree Vacations at least 14 days prior to all requested departure dates. Reservations Request Form must be sent no more than 45 days prior to all requested departure dates. Once Apple Vacations receives the Reservation Request Form, the traveler will receive a courtesy call or e-mail of receipt. Please allow 1-2 weeks. Once trip is confirmed, the reservation agent will e-mail or fax a confirmation letter to the traveler. All departure taxes, insurance, fees and fuel surcharges (approximately $310-$368 per person, subject to change) will be advised by Apple Promotional Bookings and must be paid by the traveler to Apple Vacations prior to departure. Once all fees are paid, traveler will receive by mail travel vouchers for charter flight, transfers and hotel confirmation approximately 2-3 weeks prior to departure date. Restricted dates of travel include 5 days prior and after holidays. Trips are subject to availability. Restrictions apply. Once Apple Vacations has confirmed a trip, no changes can be made. A cancellation will result in the forfeiture of prize. Travel must be completed by 9/3/2012, no extensions allowed. Trip is non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Apple Vacations reserves the right to substitute the vacation with another of equal value, equal Apple rating or within the same hotel chain should any unforeseen circumstance occur. All passengers must possess valid passport, and be at least 21 years old or traveling with a legal guardian.
